Setting Up Your Art Studio

Hey, thanks for landing on my website! If you've found me it means you're looking for inspiration and information on how to setup or improve your art studio environment. I know how you feel.

A few years ago, I was scouring books and the internet for tips and strategies on how to set up my own art studio. I found lots of books on how to set up a home office, a hobby shop, even a quilter's studio - but not much on art studios, and in particular a painter's studio. In fact, most of the books about art studios were focused on the artists and their work, which is great but not exactly what I was looking for. Since, I couldn't find exactly what I needed, I decided to write the book.

The book is almost finished. I feel immense gratitude to the artists who welcomed me into their homes and their art studios. An artist's studio is a very personal, initimate space. I am deeply honored that so many shared their personal stories and space with me.

I'm also extremely lucky and blessed that my favorite professional photographer said "Yes" when I asked him if he'd be interested in doing the photos for this book. It's because of David White that we have lots of gorgeous photos of art studios, or "eye candy" as I like to call it, to enjoy in this book. I admit some of the photos are mine as David couldn't be everwhere all the time, but you'll find almost as much of his soul in this book as you will mine.
